We provide complete prenatal care, birth attendance, and postpartum care for 6 weeks following birth. We typically begin prenatal care at 10-12 weeks of pregnancy. We see our clients every 4 weeks until 28 weeks of pregnancy; then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks of pregnancy; then weekly until birth. We provide a home postpartum visit within 3 days of birth. Clients then return to the Birth Center for 2 week and 6-week checkups, for both mom and baby.
Our prenatal care includes monitoring of weight, blood pressure, fundal height, fetal heart tones, fetal positioning, nutritional health, and overall well-being. We provide all routine lab work, including urinalysis, blood work, and Group Beta Strep testing. We also have a sonographer that comes to our Birth Center to provide diagnostic ultrasounds. During labor, we closely assess for normal progression, monitor maternal vital signs, utilize intermittent fetal monitoring, encourage nourishing food and drinks, and promote upright, physiological birth.
We routinely delay cord clamping and encourage mother-initiated skin to skin bonding. Our Baby Care includes (if indicated or desired) Erythromycin Eye Ointment, Vitamin K injection or oral supplement, Newborn Screens, and Congenital Heart Defect screening. Our postpartum visits include vital sign assessment of both mom and baby, thorough lactation support, monitoring for age-appropriate milestones, and Pap Smear for mom if desired.
